Butler Gallery Collection Touring Programme
Freeform is an interactive animation programme for children aged 7 and over. To date Freeform has worked with over 400 school children in Kilkenny, Dublin, Thurles and Nenagh. Freeform uses ‘squideo’ animation software and images of artworks from the Butler Gallery collection. Squideo allows children to take control of their own digital creativity, creating stunning animations in seconds.

FACT is a joint initiative between Butler Gallery, The Crafts Council of Ireland and Kilkenny County Council’s Arts Office. FACT aims to encourage the cross pollination of skills between designer makers and fine artists and to develop a model of practice for artists and designer makers working collaboratively in post primary schools. The exhibition showcased work created by transition year students in three schools in Kilkenny between September and December 2007. The participating schools were:
- Scoil Airegail, Ballyhale
- Grennan College, Thomastown
- Presentation Convent, Loughboy
FACT was facilitated by teachers in each of the schools, Maureen Roche, Liz Kett and Ann Mulrooney and the programme was delivered by artists Pollly Minnet, Debra Bowden and Ann Mulrooney in collaboration with designer makers Anne Harrington Rees, Frances Traynor and Brigitta Varadi.
An exhibition of work created as part of FACT was held at No. 72 John Street, Kilkenny in 2007/ 2008.
